Land Rover

Land Rover (part of Ford's Premier Automotive Group, along with Aston Martin, Jaguar and Volvo) use software developed by Clockwork to carry out EMC and Emissions tests on new vehicles at their Gaydon, Warwickshire facility.

Our software replaces a legacy system which ran on a proprietary Unix on obsolete hardware, with completely new and much more user-friendly software running on Linux on IBM hardware specified by Ford.

We wrote the majority of the software in Python, giving cross platform portability to Ford. User defined test parameters, accessed through a Linux Desktop GUI, replace what was often previously hard-coded into the application.  The software features extensive and highly configurable reporting capabilities.

The software is interfaced with the EMC chamber instrumentation through a GPIB (General Purpose Instrumentation Bus), a technology with which Clockwork are thoroughly conversant.
